Samsung / Memory Expander
Thanks to BrutWorks and 1stAveMachine we directed this 30’ film for Samsung - Memory Expander
the brief was to depict Data Flow by using just circles
We got total creative freedom within one boundary: just use circles to represent datas
the use of a simple visual language challenged us to find meaning in motion itself
we used the animated behaviour of the dots to convey the right metaphore for each chapter
this gave us the flexibility to depict different situations but still using circles as a language
We were in charge of creative and art direction but also took on animation and illustration
we directed a team of animators to achieve this while respecting a tight calendar
A bit of Exploration
after sketching some ideas we started with a clean vectorial look and minimalistic compositions
then pushed a little bit further by adding a little complexity and some more details
we first opted for a multicolour version which was rejected by client
we then used their colourful palette + a dark background for the whole video
next we started designing key-visuals and had them properly coloured
and adding minimalistic details by using grain, gradients and shading
eventually landing on the final Keyvisuals
alongside style we storyboarded the whole video
once approved we dove into animation
